Smith & Nephew Skin Prep Protectants are liquid film-forming protectants that form a protective film to help reduce friction during the removal of tapes and films upon application to intact skin. Skin Prep applies easily, even on awkward areas such as elbows, knees, and heels. They can also be used to prepare skin attachment sites for drainage tubes, external catheters, surrounding ostomy sites, and adhesive dressings.

How to use Smith & Nephew Skin Prep Protectants?

Application Instructions:

Make sure your skin is clean and dry.
Spread SKIN-PREP evenly on the area you want to protect (like around a stoma or under a dressing).
It dries in about 30 seconds. If you miss a spot, wait for the first application to dry, then apply to the missed area.
For extra protection, you can apply a second coat of SKIN-PREP and let it dry before putting on a dressing or adhesive product.
If you apply SKIN-PREP in skin folds or areas with skin-to-skin contact, let it dry completely before returning to a normal position.

Removal Instructions:

When removing adhesive products, SKIN-PREP may come off too. Reapply it whenever you change adhesive products.
You don't have to remove SKIN-PREP before reapplying. Clean and dry the area, then apply fresh SKIN-PREP as instructed.

Avoid contact with eyes
In the case of accidental contact, flush eyes well with water
Do not apply directly to open wounds or in deep puncture wounds
