Features of Transparent Film Dressings

Transparent wound dressings have the following features and benefits:

When to use Transparent Dressings?

Transparent film dressings are used as primary or secondary dressings in the treatment of wounds with little or no exudate like:
  • Stage I and II pressure ulcers
  • Wounds with necrotic tissue or slough
  • Partial-thickness wounds
  • Second-degree burns
  • Donor sites
  • Lacerations
  • Abrasions
Transparent dressings should not be used on wounds with moderate to heavy exudate.
