What to buy with ConvaTec Aquacel Ag Hydrocolloid Dressing

What is Hydrofiber Technology?

Hydrofiber Technology is a patented technology in which fibres of high-quality cellulose are carboxymethylated, altering its structure to allow better absorbency and retention of fluid. These fibres are then processed to mesh them together to form a stable fleece layer. When exposed to liquid, the fibres swell to form a clear, soft, cohesive gel structure that closely conforms to the wound bed. As the fibres swell, the fluid and its contents (e.g., bacteria and other inflammatory cells and enzymes) are trapped and held within the dressing. In addition, the gelling action prevents lateral spread of fluid through the dressing to reduce the risk of maceration and promote a moist wound healing environment.

Contraindications:

  • It should not be used on individuals who are sensitive to the dressing or its components or have had an allergic reaction to the dressing or its components.

Precautions:

  • Due to the sterilization process there might be a slight odor on opening the primary packaging.
  • Do not apply the dressing under tension.
  • It is not recommended to cut the dressing.
  • It is not designed as a replacement to primary closure methods such as staples or sutures.
  • The dressing is not compatible with oil-based products such as petrolatum.
  • Single-use only.
