ConvaTec Duoderm Hydroactive Sterile Gel is a clear, preservative-free, viscous, hydrogel that incorporates hydrocolloid formulation. It is designed for the management of partial and full-thickness wounds, such as pressure sores and leg ulcers. Ideal for use as a filler in dry cavity wounds to provide a moist healing environment. It is composed of natural hydrocolloids (pectin, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) in a clear, viscous vehicle.

    DuoDERM Gel is designed for the hydration and management of partial and full-thickness wounds such as pressure sores, leg ulcers, and diabetic ulcers

More Information

  • Contraindications:
    Do not use on individuals with a known sensitivity to the gel or its components
  • Precautions:
    Colonization of chronic wounds is common and is not a contraindication to the use of DuoDERM Gel
    - Where infection is suspected or develops during the use of DuoDERM Gel, appropriate antibiotic therapy should be initiated. The use of DuoDERM Gel may be continued, but the progress of the wound should be monitored carefully and all treatments should be under medical supervision. In the presence of anaerobic infection, occlusive therapy is not recommended
    -‚ The control of blood glucose as well as appropriate pressure relief measures should be provided with diabetic foot ulcers
    -‚ The moist wound environment produced by the gel may result in autolytic debridement which may make the wound appear larger after the first few dressing changes
  • Application and Removal:
    Cleanse the wound site, rinse well and dry thesurrounding skin
    - Unscrew the tube cap and remove the whitesafety ring
    - Replace the cap to puncture the tube membrane
    - Apply DuoDERM Gel directly into the wound.Do not fill the wound beyond the level of thesurrounding skin
    - DuoDERM Gel should be changed when thecover dressing leaks or is removed for routinedressing changes. Maximum recommendedwear time is seven days‚
