How to Apply Mepilex Foam Dressing?

Mepilex_foam_dressing_application Clean the wound area. Cut for customization, if desired. Remove the larger release film.
Mepilex should overlap the wound bed by at least 2 cm onto the surrounding skin. Apply the adherent side to the wound. Remove the shorter release film and mold the dressing in place. Do not stretch. Mepilex_foam_dressing_application
Mepilex_foam_dressing_application Hold Mepilex securely in place with a light bandage or other dressing retention method (e.g., Tubigrip , Tubifast , etc.)

 

How Mepilex Soft Foam Dressing works?

  • Mepilex minimizes both trauma to the wound and pain to the patient during dressing changes.
  • The Safetac layer prevents Mepilex from sticking to the moist wound bed yet it adheres gently to the surrounding skin.
  • The gentle adhesion frees both hands for easy application of secondary fixation. Mepilex absorbs effectively and ensures a low risk of maceration

When to use Molnlycke Mepilex Silicone Dressing?

  • Moderately exuding wounds

Precautions:

  • Mepilex should not be used with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide
  • Mepilex should be stored in dry conditions below35°C (95°F) and be protected from direct sunlight
  • In case of signs of clinical infection, consult a health care professional for adequate infection treatment
  • Do not use if inner package is damaged. Sterility is guaranteed if inner package is intact. Do not resterilize

  • In case of clinical signs of infection the use of Mepilex may be continued if proper infection treatment is initiated.
  • It should be stored in dry conditions below 35°C (95F).
  • Sterility is guaranteed unless inner package is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not re-sterilise.

  • Cleanse the wound in accordance with normal procedures.
  • Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
  • Remove the release films and apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch.
  • For best results, Mepilex should overlap dry surrounding skin by at least 2 cm. If required, it can be cut.
  • When necessary, fixate it with a bandage or other fixation.
