What to Buy with ConvaTec CGF Border Dressing?

How to Use CGF Wound Dressing?

  • Preparing and Cleansing the Wound Site:
DuoDERM CGF Border dressings are sterile and should be handled appropriately.
    • Choose a dressing that allows the DuoDERM CGF mass to extend beyond the wound margin covering all unhealthy tissue
    • Cleanse the wound according to hospital practice
    • Irrigate with saline and dry the surrounding skin to ensure it is free of any greasy substance
    • Use of the dressings help facilitate the liquefaction and removal of dead tissue; however, eschar that is particularly thick or fused to the wound margins should be removed prior to application of the dressing
    • NOTE: DuoDERM Paste or DuoDERM Hydroactive Granules may be used with this dressing. See the instructions for use with each product.
  • Applying The Dressing:
    • Remove top backing paper only.
Note: The triangle shaped dressing can be applied in several directions depending on the location of the ulcer. In sacral ulcers, the dressing may be folded in half lengthwise to make it easy to apply in the sacral folds
    • Apply the dressing over the wound. Smooth into place, especially at edges of the center adhesive
    • Fold back the border and remove the release papers from the border adhesive; press the borders into place
  • Removing The Dressing:
    • Press down on the skin and carefully lift an edge of the dressing. Continue around until all edges are free. Repeat cleansing procedure. It is unnecessary to remove all residual dressing material from the surrounding skin
    • Leave the dressing in place (not more than 7 days) unless it is uncomfortable, leaking, or there are clinical signs of infection

Precautions:
  • DuoDERM CGF Border Dressings are not recommended for use on third degree burns.

Contraindications:
  • Use on individuals with a known sensitivity to the dressing or its components.
