Allevyn Wound Dressing Technology

  1. Breathable Top Film: The outer layer can breathe when there's fluid from the wound. It stops stuff from leaking and keeps away germs.
  2. Absorbent Foam Core: The inside part is like a sponge; it can soak up liquid and work for a whole week.
  3. Non-Sticky Wound Layer: The layer that touches the wound won't hurt your skin and won't stick to the wound. It's unlikely to cause skin problems.

Allevyn Gentle Border Foam Dressing Technical Information

How to use Allevyn Border Adhesive Foam Dressing?

  •  Cleanse the wound in accordance with local clinical protocols
  • Select the appropriate allevyn dressing size
  • Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound area by removing excess moisture. Any excess hair should be clipped to ensure a close approximation to the wound
  • Start to remove the protector material from the dressing and anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin
  • Smooth the dressing over the wound, removing the remaining protector material and ensuring that the dressing is adhered all around the wound
  • Allevyn Dressings can be cut using an aseptic technique. Ensure any exposed foam areas are covered with an appropriate film dressing, taking care not to cover the entire dressing

How to Remove Allevyn Foam Dressing?

Lift one corner of the dressing and slowly peel it back until completely removed from the wound.

Note: If you have a bandage on your lower back (sacral area), it can stay there for up to 5 days. But because this area can get dirty and infected easily, we need to check it more often to make sure the bandage is still on properly. We should decide when to change it based on how it looks and follow the rules of the hospital or clinic.

What to buy with Allevyn Border Adhesive Foam Dressing?

Precautions to take While Using Allevyn Classic Foam Dressing

  • Don't use ALLEVYN Gentle Border with strong cleaning solutions like hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide. They can damage the dressing.
  • If your skin gets red or sensitive, stop using it.
  • You should only use ALLEVYN Gentle Border once. It's not meant to be used more than once.
  • If you have a pressure sore, this dressing can't be used by itself to relieve the pressure. You'll need special devices for that.
