More Information

  • Finger and Toe Application
    A. Push an excess of Original or MT Spandage onto the applicator equivalent to twice the measurement of the applicator. Place the loaded applicator over the entire dressed finger, toe or penis.
    B. Draw a small amount of unstretched Spandage off the applicator and onto the base of the extremity, and holding the released amount with your thumb and forefinger pull the applicator over the entire extremity and cut at the tip of the appendage.
    C. As this procedure is completed, one layer of Spandage will automatically bandage the dressed appendage. If additional pressure is required to secure the dressing repeat steps A-B-C.
  • Arm/ Leg/ Foot & Hand Application
    - Instructions for Hand Dressing

    A. Measure and cut approximately 14" of unstretched Spandage. Place both of your hands into the tube and stretch over the dressing allowing Spandage to fit the contour of the dressed area
    B. Make a full twist at finger tip
    C. Restretch over the hand as far as the wrist
    - Instructions for Foot Dressing
    A. Measure and cut approximately 10" of unstretched Spandage. Place both hands into the cut tube and stretch over the dressing allowing Spandage to fit to the contour of the dressed area. Spandage should extend from the ankle to the toes
    B. Draw your hands out of the tube allowing Spandage to contract and fit to the contour of the dressed area
    - Instructions for Leg & Knee Dressing
    A. Measure and cut approximately 8" of unstretched Spandage . Place both of your hands into the tube and stretch over the dressing.
    B. Draw your hands out of the tube releasing Spandage to fit to the contour of the dressed area. Allow Spandage to extend approximately 2" beyond the dressing at each end.
  • Elbow & Forearm Application
    A. Measure and cut approximately 8" of unstretched Spandage.
    B. Place both of your hands into the cut tube and stretch over the dressing.
    C. Draw your hands out of the tube allowing Spandage to fit to the contour of the dressed area. Allow Spandage to extend approximately 2" beyond the dressing at each end.
  • Amputation Application
    A. Measure and cut approximately 12" of unstretched Spandage
    B. Place both of your hands into the tube and stretch over the stump dressing. Release by withdrawing your hands.
    C. Make one full twist at the stump tip and restretch over the stump dressing
  • Lower Abdominal Application
    - Instructions for the genital, Anal, Perenium
    A. Measure and cut a 20" length of unstretched Spandage and make a 4" vertical cut directly in the center of the fold.
    B. Place both hands in the top part of the tube and stretch  drawing the panty-like tube up the legs, over the hips to the waist while keeping the lower length of the tube (or tail) hanging in the rear.
    C. With the tail hanging in the rear and below, pass the legs through the indicated side leg cuts and bring the tail up to the waist passing over the first layer.
    - Instructions for the Gluteal, Lower abdominal, Hip, Groin, Buttocks And Thigh
    A. Measure and cut approximately a 14" unstretched length of Spandage. Make a 2" vertical cut in the fold directly in the center of the tube.
    B. For bandaging the right side of the affected areas, place your right hand entirely through the tube with the previous 2" cut on the left side of the tube.
    C. Stretch out the Spandage. The affected right leg will pass through the long part of the tube, and the left leg will pass through the 2" cut.
    D. For bandaging the left side of the affected areas, place your left hand entirely through the tube with the previous 2" cut on the right side of the tube.
    E. Draw the legs through the two stretched openings and pull the panty upwards to above the waist.
  • Chest & Upper Abdominal Application
    - Instructions for Chest & Upper Abdominal
    A. Measure and cut approximately 20" of unstretched Spandage. Approximately 3" from the top of the tube, make two identical 3" vertical cuts in the opposite folds. These cuts will be the arm holes of the sweater.
    B. Place both of your hands into the tube furthest away from the 3" cuts and with the patients arm raised, stretch the tube over the head, and pull each arm through one of the 3" cuts as if putting on a sweater.
    C. Draw the stretched tube down over the shoulders to the waist.
    - Instructions for EKG Monitoring
    A. Place the required amount of electrodes on the chest. Attach the cables to electrodes. Repeat steps B and C of the chest application.
    - Instructions for The Shoulder, Axilla, Breast And Mastectomy
    A. Measure and cut a 20" length of unstretched Spandage and make a 3" vertical cut in the fold approximately 6" from one end.
    B. Place both hands into the tube at the end closest to the 3" cut. Stretch the longer tube length over the affected arm, holding the 3" cut upward.
    C. Through the stretched upwards 3" cut first pass the unaffected arm followed by the patients head.
