How to change Invia Motion NPWT Canister and Tubing Set?
To be used by healthcare professionals or adequately trained caregivers only. Change the canister minimum once a week or when it appears full, when the canister full signal sounds or when the canister full symbol is displayed.
- Wash hands and prepare clean paper towel
- Remove the Invia Motion NPWT pump from the carrying case. Switch the Invia Motion NPWT pump off by pressing the button and holding for 3 seconds. Press only once.
- Position the clamp next to the quick-connector and close the EN clamp on the pump tubing and close the clamp on the dressing tubing
- Disconnect the Invia Motion NPWT pump tubing from the dressing tubing by pressing on the sides of the quick-connector. Have a paper towel or tissue available to cover the tip of the used tubing to protect against wound fluid leakage.
- Detach the full canister/tubing set by rotating the canister to the left
- Wash hands
- Obtain a new Invia Motion canister/tubing set and open the packaging.
Caution - Do not use an Invia Motion canister/tubing set if the sterile packaging is damaged or has expired.
- Remove the new canister/tubing set from the packaging and attach it to the Invia Motion NPWT pump by pressing the canister to the Invia Motion NPWT pump and rotating to the right. Make sure the canister is aligned with the label to the front.
- Connect the Invia Motion tubing connector to the wound drain tubing. Push together until you hear a click.
- Open the clamp on the dressing tubing. Also make sure the clamp on the pump tubing is open.
- Switch the Invia Motion NPWT pump on by pressing the button. Slide the Invia Motion NPWT pump into the carrying case.
- Discard the used canister/tubing set according to instructions provided by your healthcare professional.
When to use Invia Motion Negative Pressure Wound Therapy system?
The Invia Motion Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) system is indicated for patients who would benefit from a suction device (NPWT) as when used on open wounds it creates an environment that promotes wound healing by secondary or tertiary (delayed primary) intention by preparing the wound bed for closure, reducing edema, promoting granulation tissue formation and perfusion, and by removing exudate and infectious material.
When used on closed surgical incisions, the Invia Motion NPWT system is also intended to manage the environment of surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or stapled closure by maintaining a closed environment and removing exudate via the application of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy.
The Invia Motion NPWT system is appropriate for the following indications:
Contraindications
The Invia Motion NPWT system is contraindicated in the presence of:
- Necrotic tissue with eschar present
- Untreated osteomyelitis
- Non-enteric and unexplored fistulas
- Malignancy in the wound
- Exposed vasculature
- Exposed nerves
- Exposed anastomotic site of blood vessels or bypasses
- Exposed organs
