BioPad Collagen Wound Dressing is a 100% pure native equine type I collagen for topical use to control minor bleeding and for the management of chronic non-healing wounds to help in wound closure. BioPad is a sponge shaped device, constituted exclusively by lyophilized type I native heterologous equine collagen which transforms in a soft gel allowing contact with the entire wound bed.

  • Preparation and Application:
  • Preparation:
    - Prepare the wound bed per the facilities wound care protocol and debride the wound when necessary
    - Hydrate BioPad with sterile saline if the wound has limited exudate.
    - If the wound has heavy exudate, rinse out the wound bed with saline prior to application (Do not hydrate BioPad prior to application).
  • Application:
    - Cut BioPad, if necessary, to fit the size of the wound.
    - Apply directly to the wound bed, covering the entire wound; do not overlap the edges of the wound.
    - Apply a secondary dressing per physician protocol to cover the BioPaf
    - The gel that is formed by interaction with the wound exudate is biodegradable
  • Reapplication:
    - Depending on the amount of exudate, BioPad can be reapplied every day.
    - If the wound has a small amount of exudate, it can be reapplied every 48 hours.
    - BioPad will absorb into the wound bed over time.
  • Contraindications: Do not use on patients with a known hypersensitivity to collagen.

Wound on bottom of foot.  I have to work, be on my feet walking and climbing all day.  Would the pads still be effective?
