    - The firmer, patterned adhesive secures and protects the catheter and channels moisture from the skin, facilitating efficient moisture evaporation through the dressings breathable film
    - A complementary adhesive along the border provides added dressing securement
    - Although the adhesives build in strength during the first 24 hours after application and secure throughout wear time, both remain gentle on skin and release comfortably upon removal
  • Force-shifting notch:
    - The dressings notch shifts the pull force from the dressings edge to its center, then across the dressing
    - The notch not only enlists the entire dressing in securement, but its depth also diminishes the risk of catheter dislodgement
  • Stabilization border and tape strips:
    - The strength of the reinforced border enhances stabilization, while the dressing remains flexible and conformable
    - The addition of sterile tape strips, applied according to recommended best practices, allows the dressing to withstand an additional one and a half pounds of pull force
  • Pressure-sensitive adhesives:
    - The dressings pressure-sensitive adhesives flow into the irregular surface of the skin
    - Applying the dressing with firm pressure thus puts more adhesive in contact with a greater amount of skin surface for better securement
  • Strong but gentle dual adhesives:
    - Patterned film adhesive holds strongly, manages moisture and releases gently
    - Stabilization border adhesive forms seal around catheter site
    - Pressure-sensitive adhesive conforms to skin and builds strength over 24 hours

    - Enlists entire dressing in securement
    - Discourages edge lift
    - Reduces catheter manipulation on application

    - Precut for anchoring hubs, lumens and tubing

Thank you for reaching out to us. It depends on the site and patient.

3M would defer to the guidelines, and according to the INS policies and procedures for pediatrics, 2014, page 97, "Routine site care and dressing changes are not done for the short peripheral catheter".

For Adults, and older adults, the INS policies and procedures, 2014, page 110 states, "short peripheral access site care and dressing changes will be performed when the integrity of the dressing is compromised; if moisture, drainage, or blood is present; or for further assessment if site infection or inflammation is suspected" TSM dressings will be changed every 5 to 7 days.

In short, Tegaderm™ I.V. Advanced Securement Dressings can be safely worn for up to seven days — until the dressing is soiled or no longer intact — or for the length of facility protocol.
