  • Integrated design of dressing and CHG gel pad reduces application steps and minimizes potential for application error
  • As easy-to-use and easy-to-train as a Tegaderm dressing
  • Large surface area to provide coverage of catheter and suture sites
  • Adhesive technology provides better adherence for longer wear time and
    less stress on skin
  • Absorbs fluid
  • Suggested Applications:
    - Non-tunneled central venous catheters (CVC)
    - Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs)
    - Tunneled CVCs
    - Arterial catheters
    - Dialysis catheters
    - Midline catheters
    - Any percutaneous device
  • Proven to Reduce the Risks of CRBSIs:
    -
Clinically proven to reduce CRBSIs by 60%
    - Proven to reduce the risk of skin and catheter colonisation, and to suppress regrowth of skin organisms commonly associated with CRBSIs
    - Proven to be as effective, or better than BIOPATCH Protective disk, at reducing skin flora and preventing regrowth
    - Offers the same level of antimicrobial activity at day ten as day one
    - Continues to be effective in the presence of blood, saline and exudate
  • Provides Comfort and Protection:
    - Transparent film allows continuous observation around the entire insertion site
    - Tegaderm Film integrated with 2% w/w Chlorhexidine Gluconate gel pad conforms to body contours and flexes with patient movement

    - CHG is immediately and continuously available, does not require additional moisture
    - The all-in-one antimicrobial transparent dressing minimizes opportunity for error
  • Enables Continuous Site Visibility:
The CDC recommends the use of transparent film dressings for I.V. site care, because they permit continuous visual inspection of the catheter site, permit patients to bathe and shower without saturating the dressing, and require less frequent changes than do standard gauze and tape dressings
  • Delivers Exceptional Securement:
    - Reinforced stabilization borders and notches designed for advanced securement
    - Soft cloth border adhesive forms seal around catheter site
    - Sterile stabilization tape strip allow the dressing to withstand additional pull force
  • Supports I.V. Site Care Best Practices and Protocols:
    -
Provides a waterproof, sterile barrier to external contaminants including liquids, bacteria and viruses
    - Allows continuous site observation to monitor for signs of infection, as recommended by the CDC Guideline and the Intravenous Nursing New Zealand
    - Meets INS and CDC definitions as a catheter securement or stabilization device
    - Research has shown Tegaderm CHG Dressings are easy to use and fit into clinical practice as easily as other transparent dressings
    - Tegaderm CHG Dressings can be safely worn for up to seven days—until the dressing is soiled or no longer intact—or for the length of facility protocol
    - The transparent film allows for effective oxygen-vapor exchange while helping protect against external contaminants, including those most commonly associated with CRBSIs

More Information

  • 3M Tegaderm CHG Dressing should not be placed over infected wounds. This device is not intended to treat catheter-related blood stream infections (CRBSI) or other percutaneous device-related infection and has not been studied in a randomized clinical study as to its effectiveness in preventing such infections.
  • Any active bleeding at the insertion site should be stabilized before applying the dressing. Do not stretch the dressing during application. Mechanical skin trauma may result if the dressing is applied with tension
  • The skin should be dry and free of detergent residue to prevent skin irritation and to ensure good adhesion. Allow all preps and protectants to dry completely before applying the dressing to prevent skin irritation and to ensure good adhesion.
  • Choose a dressing large enough to provide at least one-inch margin of adherence on dry, healthy skin around the catheter site.
  • Slowly remove the frame while smoothing down the transparent fi lm dressing edges
  • Reinforced borders and notches help to reduce edge lift and create a better seal around the catheter
  • Provides comfort and durability
  • Intuitive design is clinician-friendly, ease-ofapplication minimizes opportunity for error
