More Information

  • Indication:
    - Elasto-Gel hydrogel dressings are indicated as an external use dressing for local management of pressure ulcers (stage I-IV), diabetic related ulcers and wounds, surgical wounds, skin tears and 1st and 2nd degree burn.
    - It may be used in the management of scars, as a cast and splint pad and for minor pressure relief
  • Pharmacology:
    - Elasto-Gel utilizes a high concentration of glycerine (65%) as a water soluble humectant in a mixture of water and polymer matrix
    - It is presented as a hydrogel because of its ability to absorb large quantities of aqueous fluids thereby controlling moisture at the wound site
    - Its protective and cushioning properties are far superior to other hydrogels and hydrocolloids
    - Due to its high percentage of glycerine it exhibits additional desirable properties such as bacteriostatic action which is absent in other hydrogel dressings
    - Elasto-Gel provides protection from shock and friction and provides pressure relief
    - It will nearly eliminate odor within 48 to 72 hours after application to highly contaminated or chronic wounds
    - It is highly effective for reducing pain
